Since Tuesday, October 13, Tirana, the capital of Albania, has been the scene of violent student protests. These demonstrations gather thousands of people denouncing difficult study conditions at universities, rising tuition fees, and the corruption plaguing the education system.
On Sunday, October 18, at midday, a large gathering took place in front of the Ministry of Education, where protesters called for the Prime Minister to resign. Despite this popular pressure, the head of government refuses to yield and leave his position, according to France 24.
These events mark the sixth consecutive day of unrest in the country, highlighting deep dissatisfaction among students and civil society regarding persistent issues in Albania’s education sector.
