Iranian writer Orang Gholikhani has published his debut novel titled Khayyâm and Me, inspired by an extraordinary discovery in the archives of the Louvre: a dusty notebook revealed to be the diary of Omar Khayyâm.
Omar Khayyâm, a prominent figure of the 10th and 11th centuries, is globally renowned for his Rubaiyat, his poetic quatrains, as well as for his contributions to philosophy, astronomy, and mathematics.
Orang Gholikhani’s novel narrates the story of this discovery and offers an immersive exploration of the life and work of this great Persian scholar, blending historical narrative with fiction.
In an interview with RFI, the author explains how this diary fueled his imagination and enabled him to pay tribute to a complex and fascinating personality.
