The leaders of UEFA and CONCACAF have officially requested that the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, unlock approximately $2.1 billion from the global football governing body’s reserves.

This amount would allow for a payment of $10 million to each of FIFA’s 211 member associations over the 2027-2030 cycle.

This request comes amid tensions surrounding Infantino’s project to sell a stake in the World Cup to private investors, an initiative ultimately abandoned following strong opposition from European football.
