Vietnam, particularly vulnerable to climate change, had to relocate more than 17,000 people following floods in September in the northern part of the country, which severely tested local dikes.

According to a report published this year by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), nearly one-third of Vietnam’s population currently lives in areas exposed to flood risks. This proportion could approach half by the end of the century, highlighting the urgency to adapt infrastructure and national policies.

In response to the intensification of extreme climate hazards, Vietnam is seeking new methods to strengthen its resilience and protect its populations from the growing impacts of climate change.
